Cash App Settlement Payouts: What Reports Say Claimants Received and Where Distribution Stands

If you’re waiting for a Cash App payment, the case name matters more than the amount someone posted online. Several separate programs involve Cash App, and they cover different people. One Washington text-message settlement confirmed an initial award of $394.36 per accepted claim. A separate data-security settlement has scheduled payments for October 2026.

Review current settlement information

Claim helps you compare possible matches and keep track of important dates. Review each page's current status and eligibility details before deciding what to do next.

That difference explains why two people can share very different updates and both be talking about real payments. Here’s how to put the reports in context and understand where your own payment might fit, based on information available October 5, 2026.

Which Cash App settlement or refund program are you waiting for?

Start with the case name on your claim confirmation or payment notice. These three matters have separate eligibility rules and distribution schedules. A payment update for one does not establish what is happening in the others.

What it concerns

Latest available payment information

Bottoms v. Block

Allegedly unsolicited Cash App Invite Friends texts to Washington residents

The official update confirms $394.36 per accepted claim. A later editorial report describes a supplemental payment.

Salinas v. Block and Cash App Investing

Data-security incidents and unauthorized transactions described in the settlement

The September 28 update schedules payments to approved claims for October 2026.

CFPB action against Block

Customer-service, fraud and dispute-handling practices addressed by the bureau’s order

The payment program says checks began mailing June 8, 2026.

The two private class-action settlements discussed here have closed their claim windows. The CFPB matter is a separate enforcement and redress program. Seeing another Cash App payment headline does not mean either class-action filing deadline has reopened.

What did Washington text-settlement claimants receive?

The $12.5 million Bottoms settlement concerned claims about Cash App Invite Friends texts sent to Washington residents without their advance, clear and affirmative consent. The covered dates ran from November 14, 2019, through August 7, 2025. Block denied wrongdoing, and the settlement did not establish liability.

Earlier coverage described an estimated payment of $88 to $147. That was an estimate based on expected participation, not the final award. ClassAction.org‘s settlement coverage explains that payments depended on the number of valid claims. The claim deadline was October 27, 2025, and the court granted final approval on December 2, 2025.

The official Bottoms Text Settlement website subsequently confirmed an award of $394.36 per accepted claim. Its April 1, 2026 update also described paper-check reissues for failed digital payments and returned checks. This is a confirmed case-specific figure, rather than a general Cash App payout estimate.

There is also a later payment report worth distinguishing. ClaimDepot reports that initial payments began February 2, 2026, and supplemental payments of $85.95 were issued July 27, 2026. Treat the supplemental figure as an attributed report, not a promise that every recipient is owed another check. Your payment record and the applicable distribution instructions determine how it applies to you.

A first payment, a replacement check and an additional distribution are different things. A replacement generally addresses a payment that failed or went uncashed; it should not be counted as extra compensation simply because it arrived later.

Where do the security settlement and CFPB payments stand?

The $15 million Salinas settlement is separate from the Washington text case. It resolved allegations involving data-security incidents and unauthorized transactions. Block and Cash App Investing denied wrongdoing. ClassAction.org‘s reporting on the security settlement describes its background and the November 18, 2024 claim deadline.

The official Cash App Security Settlement website now provides a more recent distribution update. Its September 28, 2026 notice says review of claim deficiency responses and appeals has finished, and payments to approved claims will be issued in October 2026. The same page states that final approval was granted March 27, 2025.

For someone waiting on this case, that is a scheduled payment month. It does not confirm that every payment has already been sent or received. The update also does not announce one fixed amount for every approved claimant, so the Washington settlement’s $394.36 figure should not be used to estimate a security-settlement payment.

The CFPB program follows a different order. On January 16, 2025, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ordered Block to provide at least $75 million and up to $120 million in consumer redress. The bureau found deficiencies involving customer service, fraud prevention and dispute handling, among other violations. A separate $55 million civil penalty is not part of the consumer-payment pool.

The official Cash App CFPB payment-program website says checks began mailing June 8, 2026. A mailing start date does not establish when a particular check arrived or whether the entire distribution has finished. Likewise, the overall redress amount is not a per-person payment figure.

How can you make sense of your payment update?

You can narrow down what an update means by keeping three details together.

  • The case or program name. Match it to your original confirmation before comparing amounts or dates.

  • The payment stage. Scheduled, issued, reissued and received describe different points in the process.

  • The payment type. An initial award, supplemental distribution and replacement payment should be tracked separately.

A screenshot from another claimant can be useful context, but it cannot establish your approved amount or payment status. Keep your own confirmation, notices and payment records together so you can distinguish a genuine update from a message about another case.

If an unexpected message asks you to send money to release a payment, pause before responding. The FTC’s refund-scam guidance warns about upfront-payment demands. Verify unexpected instructions independently before sharing information or sending funds.

What else should Cash App claimants know?

Was the $394.36 Washington payout just an estimate?

The official Bottoms update confirmed $394.36 per accepted claim. The earlier $88 to $147 range was an estimate published before the final payment amount was established.

Does an October payment schedule mean my security-settlement payment has arrived?

The September 28 notice schedules payments for October 2026. Your individual payment record is what establishes issuance and receipt, rather than the month alone.

Does another distribution reopen the claim window?

A supplemental distribution concerns an existing case’s payment process. It does not by itself reopen filing. The Bottoms and Salinas claim deadlines discussed above have passed.

Is the CFPB civil penalty money being divided among claimants?

The order lists consumer redress separately from the $55 million civil penalty. The penalty should not be added to the redress amount when estimating what consumers may receive.
