Claim is an independent app that helps people find, understand, and keep track of class action settlements in one place. This page explains what Claim is, what it is not, and how to use the information on this site. It applies to every page on this site, including our settlement summaries, guides, glossary, and blog.
Claim is independent
Claim is not a law firm, a court, a government agency, a claims administrator, or a settlement administrator. We do not represent claimants, prosecute or defend lawsuits, process or pay claims, determine eligibility, or issue or deny settlement payments. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any company named in a settlement, any court, or any administrator that runs a settlement.
Every court-approved settlement has its own official website, run by the administrator the court appointed. That official website is the only authorized source for that case. We link to it from every settlement page we publish, and if anything on our site differs from it, the official source controls. Using Claim is optional. You can always deal with a settlement administrator directly.
Not legal advice
The information on this site is general information, not legal advice. Reading it, or using Claim, does not create an attorney-client relationship with anyone. Every settlement has its own rules about who qualifies, what proof is needed, and when to file, and only the official settlement website, the administrator, and the court can tell you what applies to you. If you want advice about your own situation, talk to a licensed attorney in your state.
How we source and review our information
We write our settlement summaries in plain language using official administrator and court sources first, along with reputable public reporting. Before a settlement page is published, its facts are checked against the official settlement website, and each page lists its sources and shows a last reviewed date. When we describe the claims in a lawsuit, we describe them as allegations. An allegation is not a finding of wrongdoing, and companies often settle without admitting anything.
Information can change
Settlements change often. Deadlines move, terms get amended, courts modify or reject agreements, and proposed settlements are sometimes still being decided and may never take effect. We update pages on a regular schedule, but we cannot promise every detail is current or complete at the moment you read it. Always confirm the class definition, deadlines, and requirements on the official settlement website before acting. If you spot something wrong, tell us through our contact page and we will review it.
No guarantees
Whether you qualify for a settlement, and how much you may receive, is decided by the settlement administrator and the court, not by Claim. Any amounts or dates we show are estimates based on court filings and administrator publications. Real payouts often depend on how many valid claims are filed, and can be higher, lower, or paid later than expected. We do not guarantee that you are eligible for any settlement, that any claim will be approved, or that you will receive any payment.
Filing directly is always available
You can file a claim directly with a settlement administrator for free through the official settlement website. Claim is an optional service that helps you find claims you might have missed, check the details, and track them over time. You are always free to file on your own instead.
Your responsibility when filing
When you submit a claim anywhere, you are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide. Claim forms are usually signed under penalty of perjury, and submitting false or inflated information can carry legal consequences and harms the people a settlement is meant to compensate. Only file for settlements you honestly believe you are eligible for.
How this site relates to the Claim app
This site is operated by Claim, and our settlement pages include links to sign up for the Claim app. That is a commercial relationship we want to be upfront about: we publish this information both to be useful on its own and to introduce people to our product. Our settlement facts are sourced and checked the same way regardless, and no company featured in a settlement pays us for coverage.
Trademarks
Company and product names on this site are the trademarks of their respective owners. We use them only to identify the settlements and cases we describe, which is a normal, lawful way to refer to them. Their use does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by those companies, any court, or any administrator.
