Final approval hearing

A final approval hearing is the court date when a judge decides whether to give final approval to a proposed class action settlement. It is one of the last steps before any payments can be made.

At the hearing, the judge reviews whether the settlement is fair, reasonable, and adequate for the class. The court also considers any objections that class members have submitted.

If the settlement receives final approval and there are no appeals, the administrator can begin processing valid claims and sending payments. This process can still take several months.
